Lars Hedin, George M. Moffett Professor of Biology and Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Princeton Environmental Institute, will present, "Building the Biosphere: The Hidden Traits That Have Shaped Earth's Land Ecosystems," at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Guyot Hall, Room 10. Lunch will be served at noon in the Guyot Atrium. Hedin is the first speaker in the Fall 2018 PEI Faculty Seminar Series.
Lars Hedin will address how biome-scale patterns and dynamics emerge from the different traits possessed by the plant species that make up the land biosphere. He will present a new theory for understanding the emergence and evolution of land ecosystems, including nutrient cycling, carbon storage and the diversity of plant communities.
