Project Title:  Applications of proton-coupled electron transfer in organic synthesis

Project Summary: Proton-coupled electron transfer reactions are key elementary steps in biological redox processes and renewable energy technologies. More recent work has shown that these mechanisms can also be applied toward applications in organic synthesis as a mechanism for the generation of organic free radical intermediates. In this Laboratory Learning Program module, students will have a chance to develop new synthetic methods based on PCET and learn the fundamentals techniques of working in an organic chemistry lab.

Student Roles and Responsibilities: Work in the lab alongside a lab mentor

Additional Considerations:  Start and end dates are flexible, but the student should be available essentially for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week for five weeks.
