Project Title:  Ferroelectric plasma catalysts for CO2 reduction and NH3 synthesis

Project Summary: This project is to develop and test new ferroelectric plasma catalysts to synthesize syngas from CO2 and H2O as well as ammonia from N2 and H2 in a non-equilibrium plasma reactor to achieve zero carbon chemical manufacturing. The project involves ferroelectric catalyst design, plasma aided non-equilibrium chemical synthesis, chemical species analysis, computational modeling, and laser diagnostics. The work will be conducted in collaboration with a postdoc and a graduate student.

Student Roles and Responsibilities: Rules: University safety training and lab safety training for lasers and high voltage plasma. 

Additional Considerations:  Preferred: Strong academic records in physics and chemistry, and interest in materials and energy.
Start and end dates are flexible, but the student should be available essentially full-time (at least 35 hours/week) for a minimum of 7 weeks.
