Research Opportunity Number: MAE-05
Project Title: Electrified ammonia synthesis
Project Summary:
Green ammonia synthesis is important to reduce CO2 emissions and enable distributed chemical synthesis using renewable electricity. This project will use pulsed electrical heating or plasma discharge to conduct ammonia synthesis from N2 and H2 in a flow reactor. The chemical species in ammonia synthesis will be measured by using advanced laser diagnostics and gas chromatograph sampling. The work will be supervised by a research staff member.
Student Responsibilities: Students will do experimental support, data analysis, literature review.
Additional Considerations: Students are expected to attend 5-8 weeks.
