Laboratory Learning Program 2023 - Heat pumps to save the world (ACEE-02)

Research Opportunity Number: ACEE-02

Project Title:  Heat pumps to save the world

Project Summary:  Working on prototype subsystems to improve thermal storage and controls of prototype heat pumps systems, and helping collect local, regional, and international data on heat pump performance, costs, and potential greenhouse gas emission reduction as part of electrification.

Student Roles and Responsibilities: Students will do coding primarily in Matlab or Python with some potential for virtual projects pending university policy. Projects require some independent effort and are meant to introduce research techniques and life as a researcher; Weekly reviews/lab meeting/discussions; Work respectfully and responsibly with other students as per department Code of Conduct

Additional Considerations:  The students wil help collect, reduce, and analyze data, and contribute to microelectronics prototype sensor builds; do programming and data analysis (python/excel), basic arduino or similar prototyping
