Research Opportunity Number: ECE-02
Project Title: Quantum Cascade ring laser systems design
Project Summary: Our research group studies chip-scale ring laser systems based on Quantum Cascade lasers; ring laser systems consist of multiple coupled ring or stadium lasers as well as coupled waveguides for signal read-out. This project is focused on the design and fabrication (on the computer) of the mask sets used in chip design.
Student Roles and Responsibilities: The student learn about the background of the research project and about our team's research; the use of software packages provided by our group; to design and draw optical mask designs.
Additional Considerations: The student should be available about 30 hrs/week; as much as possible: attend weekly group meetings and group luncheons with graduate students and undergraduate summer interns
