Ilana Witten receives NIH Director’s New Innovator Award

Nov. 8, 2012

Ilana Witten, a new assistant professor in psychology and the Princeton Neuroscience Institute, received the NIH Director's New Innovator Award for 2012. The New Innovator Award initiative, established in 2007, was developed "to support exceptionally creative new investigators who propose highly innovative projects that have the potential for unusually high impact." Dr. Witten's proposal involves developing new approaches to control the activity in specific populations of neurons in behaving rats, and applying these approaches to counteract the neural plasticity generated by drugs of abuse.
