Nanoscale sensors for detecting turbulence
Sept. 22, 2016

Yuyang Fan, a graduate student in Princeton's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the laboratory of Assistant Professor Marcus Hultmark, created a video to explain his research to the general public as part of Princeton Research Day, which was held May 5, 2016.
Fan and other students in Professor Hultmark's laboratory study many aspects of fluid mechanics, the field of science that describes how fluids such as air and water move through the world and around objects. The science of fluid mechanics helps engineers design wind turbines that produce electricity, skyscrapers that must withstand strong winds, and medical devices that regulate the flow of blood and other fluids.
