Robert Cava awarded 2012 James C. McGroddy Prize for New Materials

The American Physical Society announced today, Sept. 26, 2011, that Professor Robert J. Cava of Princeton University will be the recipient of the 2012 James C. McGroddy Prize for New Materials sponsored by IBM. The prize was established to recognize and encourage outstanding achievement in the science and application of new materials. The award specifically recognizes Professor Cava's work, "For pioneering discovery of new strongly correlated materials, especially novel superconductors." The prize includes a monetary award of $10,000. The McGroddy Prize will be presented at the APS March 2012 meeting in Boston, MA, February 27 – March 2, 2012, at a special Ceremonial Session.
