As a Senior Associate Director of Research Development, Mike plays a pivotal role in fostering strong, balanced relationships among faculty researchers, foundations, and the University. He serves as the primary contact for Limited Submission Proposals, expertly managing the process to ensure faculty have access to competitive funding opportunities that align with their research goals.
Before joining the Office of the Dean for Research, Mike gained valuable experience in the field of digital learning, working with leading multinational educational organizations, including Pearson and McGraw-Hill. In these roles, he developed and implemented innovative digital content strategies and led U.S. operations for a prominent developer of digital educational resources. Today, Mike is an active member of the National Organization of Research Professionals (NORDP), where he engages with peers and participates in initiatives aimed at enhancing research development practices across the field.
Mike has his M.A. in English from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his B.A. from The University of Alabama. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mike enjoys a variety of hobbies, including building electric guitars and computers, as well as indulging in reading. Additionally, he cherishes spending quality time with his grandson, James.
