Basic research conducted at universities is the source of many of today's advances in medicine, technology, energy, and many other sectors. The Office of the Dean for Research supports the transition of laboratory discoveries into products and services by providing funding to projects that have potential to benefit society. The IP Accelerator Fund supports proof-of-concept work, data collection,and/or prototyping to demonstrate the potential practical applications or economic and technical viability of the technology.
"Our aim is to help faculty members and their research teams accomplish the goal of seeing their discoveries reach the public where they can have a real-world effect. That is what is exciting about university research."
- John Ritter, director of the Office of Technology Licensing
